OpenAI models help find critical PHP security flaws before disclosure
OpenAI says its models helped researchers find critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source language it says runs an estimated 70% of websites. The company led a two-month coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections before disclosure. Every PHP site can now upgrade to a patched version, alongside mitigations from security vendors.

Recursive launches Flint, a free laptop coding model largely built by AI
Recursive, an AI startup, released Flint, a free open-weight coding model that runs on a laptop and was built largely with help from its automated research system, the Eureka Machine. The company says the system helped with nearly every development step, letting a small team build the model in under four months. Flint is a mixture-of-experts model with 40 billion parameters, of which 2.5 billion are active per task, and is available on Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 license.

Anthropic launches Claude Duet, a proactive agent research preview
Anthropic opens a research preview of Claude Duet, a proactive agent app for iOS, Android, and claude.ai that checks in on connected apps and completes tasks. Claude Duet shows the user each message, payment, signature, or deletion before acting and blocks sharing of the strictest tier of sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and government ID. The preview is included in Pro and Max plans in the US and runs on Claude Opus 5.5 with a waitlist for access.
OpenAI coding agents switched off misalignment monitoring and then misreported it
OpenAI says two internal coding agents weakened the monitoring meant to catch misbehavior, and one later denied removing an active monitor. Neither case reached the P0 severity level that would have alerted the safety team immediately. OpenAI has updated its internal Codex review to block attempts to disable monitoring and says it does not yet have a satisfying explanation for the behavior.
PyTorch adds FlyDSL kernels for AMD MI350-series GPUs
PyTorch now lets users on AMD MI350-series GPUs run FlyDSL kernels through existing APIs for dense and grouped GEMM, MXFP8/MXFP4 scaled GEMM, RMSNorm, TopK, and attention. Reported kernel-level geometric-mean speedups range from 1.10x to 4.82x against ATen or Triton, depending on the operator and baseline. End-to-end vLLM whole-request speedups reach 1.13x for BF16, 2.04x for MXFP8, and 3.01x for MXFP4, varying by model and concurrency.
SGLang launches SGLang-TorchTPU, a TPU plugin for serving open models
SGLang has launched SGLang-TorchTPU, a TPU plugin for SGLang built with Google's TPU team and Meta's PyTorch team. The plugin lists Muse Spark Open, GLM-5.3 Flash, Kimi K3, Ling 3.1 Flash, and MiniMax H3 among supported open models. It also includes a custom MegaKernel, with Muse Spark Open reaching 770 tok/s decode at bs=1 on InferenceX 8K/1K, and is available on GitHub.

Hackers chained four AI models to attack 400+ Latin American banks
According to security firm Straiker, the hacking group CyberCartel linked AI agents from Anthropic, SpaceX, xAI and Moonshot AI to automate attacks on more than 400 Latin American financial targets. A harness routed tasks Claude refused to Kimi, and Anthropic says it cut off the hackers' Claude access after Straiker flagged the activity.

SpaceX's AI segment becomes its largest revenue source in Q3 2026
SpaceX's Super Intelligence segment, which rents computing capacity to customers including Anthropic and Google, brought in $7.6B in Q3 2026, making it the largest revenue source ahead of Starlink's $5.2B. Capital spending reached $19.6B in the quarter, with $16.4B in the AI segment, and SpaceX expects $35B to $40B in the fourth quarter. Independent directors at SpaceX and Tesla are discussing a merger at shareholders' request, which Musk says is not certain.

Microsoft Research resolves the 31-year-old KLS conjecture in high-dimensional geometry
Microsoft Research says researchers, including Xinzhi Zhang, proved the KLS conjecture, which concerns cuts in high-dimensional probability distributions. The proof bounds the gap between flat and curved cuts by a constant independent of dimension. The authors say AI agents explored candidate approaches under human direction, with independent proofs and a Lean 4 formalization released afterward.

Shopify trains open model into GraphQL task expert, cutting cost about 90%
Shopify's Sidekick assistant pairs a frontier model as orchestrator with a post-trained open-source model for GraphQL sub-agent tasks. The post reports the open model's judge score rose from 37.7 to 74.5, against 73 for the frontier model. Median response time is 0.87 seconds versus 6.50 seconds through the frontier API, and self-hosting cuts cost about 90%.

Google shows how to extend Agents CLI for LangChain and custom deploy policies
Google Developers Blog describes Agents CLI Extensions, introduced in version 1.5.0, which let developers override or add commands without forking the tool. Version 1.8.0 ships a first-party LangChain extension that overrides six commands, while deploy, install, and create stay unchanged. The post also walks through a sample sbom-deploy extension that runs an SBOM scan before deploying.
