MIT CSAIL researchers use GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights and fix reasoning loops

The author relays MIT CSAIL research on Weight-Space Programming, where GPT-6 Astra reads and edits neural network weights from natural-language goals without gradients or training loops. In one experiment, Astra changed about 0.016% of Qwen3.5-0.8B's weights, lifting MATH-500 from 7.9% to 48.1%, GSM8K from 13.8% to 67.1%, and IFEval from 21.0% to 62.3%. The source says the edit removes an obstacle to existing abilities rather than adding new capabilities.

Meituan LongCat introduces LongCat-2.5, a natively multimodal agentic model

Meituan LongCat introduces LongCat-2.5, a natively multimodal agentic model with 1.6T total parameters and about 48B active. The model is built for long-horizon agentic tasks, with stronger visual understanding and agentic coding for projects ranging from complex coding to visual coding such as creative design and 3D tasks. More details are in the LongCat blog at https://longcat.ai/blog/longcat-2.5/.

Deep Principle releases Hydrogen-1.0, an open-weight scientific reasoning model built on GLM-5.3

ModelScope announces Hydrogen-1.0, an open-weight model from Deep Principle built on GLM-5.3 with a 1M context window for chemistry, materials science, and life sciences. The post says it outperforms GPT-6 Astra on FrontierScience-Research in the authors' evaluation and improves over GLM-5.3 on GPQA Diamond. Its weights are released under MIT, and the supporting code and documentation under Apache 2.0.

Claude Platform adds message threads to cut latency in long-running agents

Anthropic has released message threads in public beta on the Claude Platform, letting agents send only new messages each turn instead of the full conversation history. For requests with 500k to 1M tokens, median time to first token dropped about 35% for most Claude Code users with the feature on by default. Threads are held in memory for 5 minutes after their last request, and token usage stays the same because Claude still reads the full conversation each turn.

OpenAI's Greg Brockman introduces Pando, a Git backend for large monorepos

Greg Brockman says OpenAI built Pando, a new Git backend for its monorepo that handles more pushes and fetches without changing how engineers and agents use Git. The author says Pando cut push latency by about 80% and now serves nearly a petabyte of Git data a day. He adds that OpenAI is considering offering Pando to others and invites interested parties to contact him.

Anthropic revenue grows twelvefold but quarterly net loss reaches $23.3 billion

Anthropic posted quarterly revenue of nearly $17 billion, twelve times the prior year, but operating costs of $17.5 billion pushed it back into operating loss. The net loss was $23.3 billion, driven by $5 billion in short-term compute capacity and $2 billion in employee donation matching. The updated prospectus shows $895 billion in compute and data center lease commitments ahead an IPO that could raise around $100 billion.

Marvell to buy Lumentum in a $115 billion AI connectivity deal

Marvell Technology said it will buy optical components maker Lumentum at an implied enterprise value of $115 billion, with Lumentum shareholders receiving 4.5 Marvell shares per Lumentum share.
