Shopify lets any AI agent buy from its billion-listing catalog

Shopify says shoppers can connect any AI agent to their Shop account to buy from its catalog of over a billion listings, where agents previously needed a partnership integration such as Meta's Muse.

Buyers set rules such as budget limits and must approve each purchase, with checkout through Shop Pay.

A later Shopify announcement from developer Ben Sehl adds shop.md and shop.dev, which connect agents to the same infrastructure through a single skill and API. Both run on Shop MCP, which gives agents search across the catalog, Sign in with Shop, and one-tap checkout, and any developer can build on it starting that day.
