Nathan Lambert says Muse Spark Open could drive strong adoption as a US open-weight model

AISummary

Nathan Lambert says that if Muse Spark Open performs as its scores indicate, adoption will be strong, calling it the first US open-weight model with near-frontier agentic capabilities.

He points to recent Chinese releases, GLM 5.2 and Kimi K3, as the earlier step change.

The quoted post from Alexandr Wang describes Muse Spark Open as 816B total parameters with 42B active, a 1M-token context, native multimodality, and built for coding and agentic work.

The attached benchmark table compares it with Chinese and other models on agentic, reasoning, coding and multimodal tasks.

@natolambert

If it performs roughly what like the scores indicate, adoption of this model is going to go gangbusters. First open-weigh model in the US with near frontier agentic capabilities (GLM 5.2 + Kimi K3 was that step change from China). US models get crazy adoption.
