YouTube Music adds labels for songs made with generative AI
Overview
YouTube Music began labeling songs that are altered or fully generated with AI, according to The Verge.
Tapping the label on the player page opens a menu with more information, and YouTube says the labels will expand later to the main YouTube app.
YouTube says it identifies AI-generated songs using music partner disclosures and its own detection tools, and may use other signals when a song has no disclosure. Partners declare their AI use as Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI, or No Gen AI, and TechCrunch reports the labels cover AI use in both composition and vocals.
