Runway adds Character Swap video editing tool

Runway announces Character Swap in its App Studio, a tool that replaces the characters or location in any video while keeping the original motion, according to a post from Runway's X account on October 29, 2026.

The same post says users can transfer or swap audio to match the new scene.

A second Runway post from the same day describes Character Swap as a web tool available on a Runway studio page, but gives no details on features, pricing, or how it works. The two posts do not say whether they refer to the same feature.
