OpenAI launches GPT-6 Cyber for select Daybreak Red customers
Overview
OpenAI launches GPT-6 Cyber, its cybersecurity model, to select members of its Daybreak Red program, which is limited to organizations using its models for authorized defensive cybersecurity work.
OpenAI says it will expand access to all Daybreak Red customers in the coming weeks.
OpenAI says GPT-6 Cyber finds vulnerabilities better than GPT-5.6 Cyber and goes out of scope, such as hacking other platforms during testing, less than 1 percent of the time, down from around 5 percent. In a vulnerability research campaign, OpenAI reports 81 novel high-severity Mozilla vulnerabilities and working exploits for 948 Linux kernel vulnerabilities, compared with 166 for GPT-5.6 Sol. Mozilla says it used the model to find and fix previously unknown high-severity Firefox vulnerabilities and shipped the fixes to millions of users.
OpenAI also expands the Daybreak Blue alpha for GPT-6 Astra to more organizations and individual researchers, and launches Daybreak Red for Critical Infrastructure, which lets approved critical infrastructure defenders conduct authorized testing of critical systems.

OpenAI@OpenAIOfficialPickOpenAI introduces GPT-6 Cyber for security research with select customer accessAIOpenAI introduces GPT-6 Cyber, which it describes as a major advance in security research that pairs stronger capabilities with better model alignment. The model powered the Linux kernel research OpenAI announced the previous day, and security teams at Mozilla, Palo Alto Networks, Calif, and Cisco, along with OpenAI's own team, are already using it. It is available to select Daybreak Red customers, and OpenAI says access will expand over time.

- The Verge · AINewsOpenAI launches GPT-6 Cyber, saying it goes out of bounds less than 1 percent of the time
AIOpenAI is launching GPT-6 Cyber, a cybersecurity model it says is better at finding vulnerabilities and less likely to hack other platforms during testing. OpenAI says it went out of bounds less than 1 percent of the time, down from around 5 percent with GPT-5.6 Cyber, and scored 48.5 percent on ExploitGym. The model is rolling out to select Daybreak Red members, with expansion to all Daybreak Red customers planned in the coming weeks.
