ChatGPT app adds dot creation on iOS and Android

OpenAI says users can now create a "dot" directly in the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android, according to a post from the ChatGPT account on X. A first-party OpenAI YouTube video adds that users can edit the dot's name, customize its avatar, and set it as the first conversation they see when opening the app.

A separate post from OpenAI's Tibo says users can also text their dot from the mobile app. Previously, dots could only be created through the desktop or web app, according to that post. The ChatGPT account describes this as the first of several updates for dots and does not explain what a dot is.
