xAI adds phone calling to Grok Bot, with Musk promoting it as an assistant

xAI says Grok Bot can now make phone calls, but has not released details on how calling works, who can use it, or what it costs.

Elon Musk promoted Grok @Bot on X as "like hiring an amazing assistant."

A user says Grok Bot called his car insurer about a 14% renewal increase and let him type answers to the representative's questions during the call without hanging up. That account rests on the user's post and Musk's endorsement. No independent test or company statement describes how often the feature works.

Michael Truell of Cursor says users can ask Grok Bot to schedule appointments, cancel subscriptions, or coordinate with colleagues over the phone. Truell's post is the only report describing these uses.
