Vercel launches durable-harness to run AI agent harnesses durably
Overview
Vercel introduces durable-harness, which runs agent harnesses on its platform so they resume automatically after failures and can run for hours, days, or months, according to a Vercel post on X. Supported harnesses include Pi, OpenCode, Codex, Claude Code, eve, fx, and a customer's own harness.
Guillermo Rauch, Vercel's chief executive, says durable-harness extends Vercel's Workflows durability infrastructure to all agent harnesses in a runtime-agnostic, open-source solution. He says Pi and OpenCode fit this model directly, while Claude Code and Codex can be made durable and observable this way but are not currently designed for embedding. He says that makes them less efficient and less portable and requires an extra sandbox, compared with Pi or fx.
