GitHub launches security extension for GitHub Copilot app in public preview
Overview
GitHub has released a security extension for the GitHub Copilot app, now in public preview, that lets developers browse code scanning alerts, ask Copilot to explain or fix them, and run /security-review on local changes.
Copilot makes fixes only in the local working copy and does not commit or push them.
The Explain, Fix, and /security-review actions use the model selected in the app and consume AI credits like any other prompt. Browsing and dismissing alerts does not use AI. For Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise, an administrator must enable the GitHub Copilot app policy, and can use enterprise managed settings to control which plugins developers install.
The extension is available on github.com and GitHub Enterprise Cloud with data residency, but not on GitHub Enterprise Server.
