Warp Sciences launches with $215M Series A to apply AI and robotics to drug development
Overview
Warp Sciences, co-founded by Kevin Weil, has emerged from stealth with $215 million in Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Weil says.
The company plans to build a U.S.-based chemistry contract research organization that combines chemists, robotics and AI to make and test molecules for drug developers, according to The Robot Report. Its initial service focuses on lead optimization and analog synthesis.
Warp says it has no proprietary drug pipeline of its own. It is designing automated labs that run experiments, learn from the results and improve with each cycle, with the aim of generating real-world data to train AI models. Fidji Simo says she invested in the company.
