Databricks says Unity Catalog supports moving Iceberg tables without copying data

Databricks says Unity Catalog now supports REGISTER and UNREGISTER from the Apache Iceberg REST catalog spec, letting tables move between catalogs without data movement. Databricks says it contributed UNREGISTER to the spec, making the capability an open standard. Unity Catalog managed tables in customer-owned storage keep data in buckets the customer controls.
