Gergely Orosz says Anthropic's new source control tool is closed source

AISummary

Gergely Orosz says Anthropic's in-house source control system, which Anthropic built to replace git for its monorepo, is closed source with no plans to release it. He notes that Bun and MCP are the only open-source projects from Anthropic.

@GergelyOrosz

While an interesting read and ambitious project, like anything else Anthropic creates (model, harness, tools) this tool is once more closed source, seemingly no plans to open it up for the outside world to observe or learn from it.

Only thing open at Ant is Bun and MCP 😞

New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale. Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/redesigning-source-control
