Google releases Gemini 4 Argon as its most capable frontier model

Google is rolling out Gemini 4 Argon worldwide to developers, businesses, and consumers, replacing the Gemini Pro class as its frontier series.

Argon costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens at the introductory rate, and holds the top spot on the Vals Index but trails Claude Opus 5.5 in independent overall rankings.

Google's self-reported figures include a 2.85x inference speedup for Gemma on an A100 via vLLM and the lowest attack rate on the Gray Swan Indirect Prompt Injection benchmark at 0.7 percent.
