Brundage says Anthropic's softer wording still means it won't slow down alone

AIMiles Brundage says Anthropic's softer language about pacing the frontier likely meant it won't slow down unilaterally. He says this is not a new position, pointing to Anthropic's earlier RSP changes, and that whether it is defensible is a separate question.

Pretty sure they were just trying to convey “we won’t slow down unilaterally” but just in softer language

(which is not a new position, see e.g. the related RSP changes a while back. Whether it is defensible is a separate Q)

Wait so Anthropic's s-1 says that the calls to "pace the frontier" don't have anything to do with its own model release timelines?!? Am I reading that wrong? Or is this...just 'you can just say things and they mean whatever you want'
