Anyone thinking that last night's Democratic midterm sweep means an AI Freeze law or a Superintelligence ban like Bernie's are now possible is not being realistic, in my opinion. Even if such a bill did pass, President Trump would veto it, and Democrats do not have the supermajority needed to override him. Even in the unlikely scenario that enough Republicans defected to override a veto, President Trump would then decline to enforce an AI Freeze law by arguing that it unconstitutionally infringes on his Article II authority as Commander-in-Chief to protect national security.
