Gergely Orosz says companies hire for rare profiles but rarely grant them trust

AISummary

Gergely Orosz says companies want to hire someone with a rare profile, but in 9 of 10 cases they will not trust a non-cofounder or non-founding engineer to take the risky, sometimes controversial steps needed to execute quickly and beat competitors. He adds that such hires are rarely given the latitude that winning requires.

@GergelyOrosz

Problem is: companies say they want to hire someone like this

But in 9/10 cases unless said person is not a cofounder or founding eng, they won’t get the trust to do the risky + sometimes controversial stuff that is required to execute quickly and well to win vs competition

literal hardest role to hire for rn and every ai startup wants someone > chronically online (knows trends) > has taste & can create (new media) > understands ai & technical > can execute with quality (operator) such a small niche of folks who can do this
