Microsoft explains how to create interactive slides with Copilot in PowerPoint

AIMicrosoft says Copilot in PowerPoint can build interactive slides from a single prompt that reveal context, steps, or data as users click through them. The feature is available in the Current Channel for Microsoft 365 with a Copilot license.

PowerPoint is in its Renaissance Era, and I've never been prouder of this team.

Interactive Slides is my favorite feature we've ever built. It leads to awe and amazement every single time I've seen it used.

Learn how to use it right now 👇 https://x.com/i/article/2118489452003901440

You've never seen PowerPoint do this.

Interactive Slides in PowerPoint turn one prompt into the kind of slide that makes a room go quiet and ask, "Wait, that's PowerPoint?"

Here's how to do it yourself right now:👇

You have four quarters of fiscal year results, a full product roadmap, or a new process with a dozen steps. Put everything on one slide and it becomes a wall of text. Spread it across many slides and the big picture gets lost.

What if one slide could tell the whole story, and reveal each detail at the right time?

Engagement starts when your audience can take part

The presentations people remember are the ones that invite them in. Interactivity turns a static slide into something you and your audience explore together.

That’s why we created interactive slides for Copilot in PowerPoint. Describe the story you want to tell, and Copilot builds a slide you can click through, revealing context, steps, or data points as you interact with it.

Try interactive slides now

Now available in Current Channel for Microsoft 365 with a Copilot license.

To get started, try these examples. Open a presentation in PowerPoint and open Copilot Chat using the Copilot icon at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Copy this prompt and paste into the Copilot Chat prompt box:

Use create-interactive-slide to add a photo carousel of five fictional library investment areas with key figures. Center the active card and closely fan the others behind it on both sides. Use light, airy photos. Selecting a card reveals details and a larger different image on the right.

Copilot might ask questions such what style of slide you’d like. When the slide is ready, start clicking through the cards to see how an interactive slide can take an investment discussion to the next level.

Or try this example to see how a dashboard can elevate customer feedback for a new product:

Use create-interactive-slide to add a dashboard showing customer sentiment for [item name]. Include a photorealistic hero product cutout of [item name], an overall positive-feedback gauge and people icons grouped by feature. Let me filter by feature with smooth transitions and explore real customer quotes on hover.

Copilot will ask what kind of product you’d like to showcase and can invent customer feedback to simulate real data. For your own product, you can provide Copilot with a customer data source with Work IQ, like an Excel workbook.

Or try your own ideas. Open a presentation in PowerPoint and select Interactive Slide on the Home or Insert tab. You can also find Create interactive slide in the Copilot skill picker.

Make it yours with Copilot

You can customize your first slide further. Interactive slides are created and updated through Copilot, so every change is a prompt away instead of a trip to the canvas.

Ask Copilot to rework the design of the slide, change how the interactivity works, or redefine how the slide is animated and configure its motion. Try prompts like “Make this a bar chart,” “Add a filter by region,” or “Animate each milestone as I click through the timeline.”

Start with your style. Create your interactive slide in an existing deck, referencing a template, or with a Brand kit, and Copilot will carry those style elements into the first draft.

Use generated images for visuals. When you want to add visual appeal to your content, ask Copilot to use generated images for new swagger.

Review before you present. Like any AI-generated content, double-check the numbers, labels, and dates before you share.

The most engaging slide in your next deck can be the one your audience gets to explore. What story would you make interactive first?
