Ai2 releases HiRO-ACEv2 for 3 km climate downscaling

Ai2 releases HiRO-ACEv2, a framework that generates 3 km precipitation, 10 m winds and sea level pressure fields over decades of simulated climate and arbitrary regions of the globe.

It pairs the HiROv2 diffusion downscaling model, which turns 100 km inputs into 3 km fields, with an ACE2S-X-SHiELD checkpoint trained on nine years of X-SHiELD data. The model is licensed under Apache 2.0 for research and educational use.
