New TAK Plugin - QuickSearch
Hello everyone, I have been working on a bit of TAK content lately, and as a result I have built my first TAK plugin, with the help of AI. I know, I myself am not a fan of vibecoding, but I needed this tool quickly for something else, and I figured that since I built it for personal use, I might as well do it right and offer it to everyone properly.
What it Does
It's a basic search bar for ATAK. Surprisingly, there is no keyword search function built in to ATAK, so I had to build my own.
- Basic keyword search for CoTs markers.
If you have points dropped on the map, this tool will allow you to find them based on a keyword search of their names.
- Basic keyword search for KMZ files.
If you have a KMZ loaded, this plugin can be used to search for the names of icons within that KMZ. Previously, there was no way to search for place names within a KMZ.
- Better coordinate search function.
The "Go To" feature is rather clunky and not very conducive to cutting/pasting coordinates into TAK from other sources. When seconds count, I needed the ability to take geographic coordinates from social media, and paste them immediately into TAK without having to worry about tapping several things on screen. This plugin streamlines this process.
- Search from Map Center
Search results populate from the center of the map view. So if you are searching for something and you know the general area, the search results will populate closest to what you are looking at. This prevents search results from the other side of the world from cluttering up your search, and makes the search process much faster.

From there, the APK downloads and installs like every other ATAK plugin, and for those so inclined the build instructions are there for full transparency. It's signed by TAK.gov, and I am working on getting it on the Play store right now but that might take a few days.
It's a really simple plugin but one that did not exist in a manner that I wanted, so I built my own. I have been testing it on TAK version 5.6.0, but it should work for more recent versions as well. I will be fixing bugs as they come up, but hopefully it's in a decently solid state as is. Updates will come along as needed; I'm also working on a few other plugins as well which are vastly more useful (and ones that I've been needing myself for a while).
