Tradecraft rewrites its trading journal in Rust with local and cloud modes

AITradecraft is rebuilding its trading journal in Rust, which the developer says runs much faster than the legacy version. Users can toggle between a local version that keeps tags and trades stored privately on their own machine and a cloud version.

Statistics Statistics - What the future brings and my attempt to solve trading failure

First a bit of an update. Some announcements that then evolve into the meat and potatoes.

Taking some time off this week to work on Both https://tradecraft.club and https://fatcatsofwallstreet.com/

Have a bunch of course modules filmed and currently in the editing phase.

Still need to film much more.

Getting up some episodes from last week as well.

---
Let's talk about a major overhaul on https://tradecraft.club - but not just from the perspective of features. But more so the why - and more importantly the vision of attempting to solve trading problems faster and more effectively.

We have been working on a Rust version of Trade Craft which now runs way fucking faster.

But this isn't a full port. It's almost a completely different version with the same feel and flavor.

I already have talked about this. But we have a local version and cloud version where you can toggle between both versions. This allows users to have their tags and trading privately stored locally, where we don't have access. This is a big issue with a lot of journals, and causes a point of paranoia.

The cloud version is for those that told us they don't care and want the cloud to save their data.

I attached the dashboard from the legacy version and the Rust version - which is fucking ugly right now on the UI for the rust version.

Import Improvement
We had a lot of issues with imports on legacy. Some of you trade forex, stocks, and odd futures symbols - which causes a lot of decimal issues on tick values.

This was a huge ongoing issue that kept happening.

The Rust version now prompts any unfamiliar symbol on your end when being seen for the first time - to have you enter in the tick value and some other parameters once. This will set the system so all your widgets will work correctly and really everything else tied to that symbol.

Part of why we're doing an overhaul
Now we didn't invent tagging as a concept. But most journals use it as an after thought, so the work flow around this stuff was always bad. https://tradecraft.club was built to focus on tags.

If you follow my posts you'll know why.

So we pioneered a lot of this nuance shit, that required developing our own unique layout or UI and background formulas. Over time, this opens up areas that needs to be refined we never thought of such as tag groups.

The tag groups for example always have gaps. The rows can be too tall and cause this. We talked about a packing algo, but think it's better for the user to be able to drag and pack them the way they want. Your groups layout creates a workflow by memory at some point. So user control is important.

Customization
We always had the user in mind - for customizing layouts like our widget dashboard for example. Other platforms dashboards were always fixed and may display information you don't care about, in layouts that are fixed.

Sometimes a pie chart is good other times seeing the same data get displayed as a histogram is better. That's always been there.

Letting users move, adjust and build their dash added a level of complexities which we did in legacy. But after using it - there's so much improvement that can be done.

So the newer version - which will import all of the legacy users videos, screenshots, tags and data now - not open for testing yet. However the new version is getting a bigger rework.

SPEED and BUGS
Part of going to rust was speed. The platform is faster. But also rust just helps with us not introducing so many fucking bugs.

It's one thing when we WANT TO MAKE new features and do all the shit we want to do. But dealing with fucking bugs users find eats into development. After all there's one fucking dev.

Now that I got better at vibe coding, I'm plugging in to help as I always been the tester for this shit. There's little things I can fix. But not to worry about this being all AI vibe coded app. The dev reviews my code before any push. Our hope is I can free him up to do the heavy lifting, instead of him getting hung up on little bull shit. This means we can roll out massive updates faster.

Dream the dev has also has the best solutions for UI, and just creating methods to speed the users work flow up.

Him and I always sat down to attempt to speed up work flow. I don't want to spend longer than I need doing this stuff or navigating. Like many others, I can be lazy. So our objective had always been to make it faster, less clicks, short cuts for navigation, auto time stamping your recorded sessions.

His brain and ability to think of these things, just is something AI can't do. The imagination of the human mind is so paramount for creative thinking.

Why we built this
With this new version - we're really taking a lot of lessons from the legacy version. I fucking use the software. I have to. I have to use it to improve my trading and what it was originally designed for. My ability to diagnose other traders statistics to help them improve.

https://tradecraft.club was designed for me attempting to build a prop firm. Not fucking combine funding. But hands on development with traders like Chronik.

This area of trading lacks information and has a fuck load of improvement that can be made in the process.

For example. I think tags are more suited to management and psych over technicals. Although I think technicals should be looked at. I originally thought techncials were the main objective for tagging. My idea on this has changed a lot.

This is why I post a lot of break downs on my trading using https://tradecraft.club - so we can see where real focus needs to be - in order to actually improve as a trader. I mean this software is very much a research and development product for me to figure out how to boost success rate among retail.

I know there's a lot of money in solving that problem which this industry is not fucking doing a good job of.

Sideline coaching is not enough nor is just an accountability partner. There's more creative solutions. But those solutions require in the trench work done by hand. AI doesn't do a good job on trading advice in my opinion. Only you know your trading on the most interment level, so a hands on process where you're involved is needed, and cultivating nuanced detail is needed to even have the data for you to make a change let alone fucking AI, and when you filter your trades, you can SEE EXACTLY what to focus on.

I'm visual so seeing this shit is helpful.

Sure more and more automation can devlop from this work, but this really is some unexplored territory and there's no fine details online for AI to even scrape.

A bit of a rant. But we learned ALOT on how to fucking improve the widgets and the layouts, navigation.

The real big problem we're solving, is how can we get you guys to run the work flow faster, and then secondly - how can we best deliver the most useful information to help you parse the data faster - and third - leverage it to fucking improve faster?

This is the only reason to have this type of software in my opinion.

There's really no optimal way of knowing without slogging the shit by hand at first, then find faster UI work flows. Which is what the Rust version is.

The data in tags is richer than you think
In a sense https://tradecraft.club is a rudimentary algorithm or a calculator that has a lot of complex back end routing. However I soon discovered from parsing through a fuck load of tags doing end of month or end of year reviews. That fucking process - takes fucking forever. And it really requires this God awful process of filtering and comparing and filtering and comparing to find any form of edge in techncials and other really unique patterns.

Like knowing how long in the session you need before you gain clarity? For me it's 40 minutes.

I know the patterns of how my psychology falls apart.

I know what kind of trades I start to take when I tilt, this is break outs.

And there is some entry techniques that have higher performance. Like actual fucking edge. But that's not the same edge as what you guys think. I think edge is by far more complex. These are things that can make my entry get a free peak, or just places where momentum probability is higher.

By slogging this fucking process. It's given me the idea of back end algorithms on our end to deploy, so the end users can come to these conclusions much fucking faster.

The problem is my method of tagging and filtering isn't what a lot of customers do. We really have no idea what their process is and their work flow is for determining what direction to go - as they're on their own pioneering adventure trying to figure it out as well. I don't get that feedback.

So a lot of https://tradecraft.club is designed around my methodology for extracting useful statistical data.

As I learn more of the process and refine it - this might devlop into a standardization of how to actually tag. Like as in - focus on these specific tags - or a standardization of tags to be used - as a background algo will know those tags and be-able to spit out an output that tells you EXACTLY what to do.

Now we need to make sure customers have freedom of choice here. But there may be a potential template based off my tagging methodology users can toggle.

That means having a dedicated management, psychology, and technical grouping for tags.

We already have groups. But this could mean having the option or forcing customers to put their management, psychology, and technical tags into these master categories. This can allow our algorithm to spit out more useful data on your end.

Again. I'm all for customers having freedom. This is why you can customize so much, and even build your own widgets. Which has been in for some time - but I think universally we can agree on some form of potential standardization of specific tag categories that need to be used to get actual useful fucking information that an algo on our end can filter through far faster than you.

Random ass tags and processes just require random filtering techniques that take forever. I think this alone is a reason most people give up on tagging.

The better we can be on our end to parse out useful data for you, the less time and brain numbing activity you need to go through on your end. Myself included. The more useful this software gets.

See, we live in a data driven world here. But traders are this middleman inbetween trading decisions and the outcomes. So the data points are infinite. Also unlike a trading algo, the human can fuck up in many ways like management and psych.

As long as you are in the mix. The data can be so random and skewed especially without any form of standardization - or foundational template to follow.

We can speculate all we want on why traders fail. But I can tell you the reasons are many and go far deeper than a broad blanket statement. My tagging and seeing Chroniks tags, have really gained have showed a ton of insight.

https://tradecraft.club - is my attempt to solve - or at the very least - give us more answers.. This is why unlike many other influencers - I have gone so hard on this niche product - instead of running affiliate links, or building out my own fucking online funding prop product, or even a custom trading platform.

I am retarded in a lot of ways, by not pursuing those avenues, because trading journals do not appeal to the masses, by any means, and is at the bottom of the totem pull for consumers, or traders in general.

But it's also the area that lacks the most expertise, and generates the most useful data - and is where traders do improve.

It's also the one tooling out of all trading products, that is designed around helping traders, because you will learn more from your own trading than anyone else.

This is me taking a far more difficult path, where the reward is realized years down the road. Whether that's me improving - which does fucking work and is already worth it - Chronik getting better - and even assisting others into the next bracket of performance.

Being able to ACTUALLY improve other traders, comes with their gratitude. Traders don't care or won't remember specific players unless they did something that really made a positive impact on their end. This is where culture and real community are cultivated. This opens future opportunities for future projects to tap into the community.

The relationship needs to have some win win. Which is hard to build - seeing how trading is high failure rate game.

The trial and error of running this for 2 years now shows us where we need to improve and what specific direction to take, that can aid other traders.

I hate to be that fucking guy. But https://tradecraft.club is different. There is an underlying rich layer of what it is. Why it exists. Where it's going.

If I'm to ever to coach or run legit prop. I need this tool. I need it to be fast and effective so we fucking have data on pivoting traders.

Now we also in the Rust version have a way for you guys to share journals with each other. So this allows small factions of traders to integrate each other in a way, where accountability can be more effective.

Why support us?
There has been and still is a version of https://tradecraft.club that is buy to own. No ongoing subscription. And coupled with the local version on your own hardware, you have data privacy.

This means we update the software. We come out with the ideas and features that are useful and also integrate the broader communities ideas such as privacy was highly requested along with buying to own.

Supporting us taps into a broader network where honestly some big brain ideas come through.

My very laborious work through filtering also brings expertise on future filtering algos and processes.

You also have future innovations being cooked up that doesn't exist on the market yet. You're always tapped into that.

Most importantly, the content I make like writing long form content and making videos. It takes far longer than you think. It's original content.

https://tradecraft.club ultimately supports the content.

I'm also responsible for showcasing the live work flow of how I use it and what I'm doing to improve, to provide case studies for you guys to model. To showcase how Chronik is improving.

My content actually being supported is a driving force to keep going. Even if that support is as simple as a like.

It's one thing for me to actually be successful in trading. But it doesn't matter unless that allows for information or tooling that can help you improve, and there really is a win win relationship where it's self fulfilling.

Because lets face it. The landscape of solid useful information or platforms that harvest you is not looking good.
