I read the comments. Many people are asking: “Why should we want to live beyond 100, let alone 300?” It’s because aging and cancer are the same disease. So if we can solve aging, that means we can cure cancer, too. We are close to doing both. Let me explain some more... Old cells make you old. They build up, the immune system stops clearing them out, and that is what we call aging. A cancer cell is the most extreme version of an old cell. @davidasinclair reversed aging in mice by resetting the epigenetic pattern of their cells. Kwang-Hyun Cho’s team at KAIST turned colon cancer cells back into normal cells in the lab. This means when you reverse the aging in a cell, you are reversing the same process that turned it into cancer. We can hold a person at a biological age of 25 to 35 today, and at that age you almost never die of a health condition. Although we are seeing increasing rates of cancer in younger people, overall cancer is still correlated with older individuals as a result of their immune systems becoming weaker over time. If we are able to keep people young, and their immune systems functioning at a high degree, this also results in the prevention of cancer. @drgoodyear and I wrote all of this up in our mini-book series The Longevity Primer.
