Grok Bot DJ plays deep cuts from your own music library

AIA solo developer built a Grok Bot DJ that scans a user's local music library, scores never-played tracks for obscurity, and builds themed sets with spoken breaks. The bot links songs through shared musicians, covers, samples, lyrics, or years, and checks each story against a real source before using it.

BOOM!

GROK BOT DJ FROM YOUR LIKED SONGS!

I brought back the college radio DJ I grew up listening to. It lives on my Mac, and it's @Grok @Bot.

Remember late-night college radio? A DJ would play a song you'd never heard, then come back on and tell you why: the session drummer also played on the next track, or that obscure B-side got covered ten years later by a band you love. The magic wasn't the songs. It was the threads between them. I like this DJ because I was one at my High School, but you can pick your own with its own vibe.

Streaming killed that. Algorithms serve you more of what you already played.

My own library had grown to more than 91,000 songs, and more than 7,000 of them had never been played.

Not once!

So I built a Grok Bot DJ with one job: dig through the music I already own and make it surprising again.

Here's what it does:

Reads my whole library. That means the Music app, my old iTunes collection, Spotify, Apple Music and loose files from years of downloads, all in one master spreadsheet on my own computer.

Scores every song for obscurity. Its long-tail score flags never-played tracks, forgotten artists, and songs I haven't touched in years, so deep cuts come first.

Builds eclectic, themed sets. Or asks me for a mood or vibe.

Prog rock next to 60s pop next to a film score, where every song connects to the next through a real thread like a shared musician, a cover, a sample, a lyric echo, or the same year.

Talks between songs.

Before each track, it gives a short spoken break on the song's history, why it came up tonight, and how it links to what's next.

Checks its facts. Every story and link is checked against a real source. If it can't verify a fact, it picks a different song.

Lets you upgrade the voice. The built-in Mac voice is free, Premium Mac voices are a free download, and studio-quality AI voices work with your own key.

Plays the whole show.

One command runs the full set, breaks and songs in order.

Respects your stuff. It never deletes, moves, or retags your music, and it only writes inside its own folder.

The first night it ran, I heard songs I'd paid for and forgotten, introduced like old friends.

It's a public Grok Bot now, so anyone can spin one up and point it at their own library.
