Alibaba chairman Joe Tsai says open-source AI is Europe's path to tech independence

Alibaba chairman Joe Tsai said open-source AI is the only way for Europe to achieve technological independence, citing China's open-source push as a model. He said European factories hold valuable manufacturing data that should not be fed into closed-source APIs, but used to further train open-source models. Tsai made the remarks at the Wave tech event in Italy earlier this week.
