Berkeley mathematician Richard Borcherds drops graded homework over AI cheating
AIFields Medal winner Richard Borcherds, a UC Berkeley professor, says he no longer assigns graded homework because AI use makes it impossible to tell whether students wrote their own work. He now assesses students mainly through in-person exams with no electronic devices.
