I am so grateful to the inquisitive Import AI community - it brings me a lot of joy to highlight research in the newsletter and for it to generate meaningful interest

Looks like the surface area of the @jackclarkSF DM-saga is crazy and here's mine! Back in 2019, I was miffed that no one was building ML datasets for Indic languages and took it upon myself to build Kannada-MNIST and put it on Kaggle. A few days later, I saw a deluge of interest and it turned out that Jack had written about my dataset in his newsletter "Import AI" with these golden words: "Soon, we’ll have two worlds: the normal world and the AI-driven world. Right now, the AI-driven world is going to favor some of the contemporary world’s dominant cultures/languages/stereotypes, and so on. Datasets like Kannada-MNIST can potentially help shift this balance" 💀💀 https://jack-clark.net/2019/08/19/import-ai-160-spotting-sick-crops-in-the-icassava-challenge-testing-ai-agents-with-bsuite-and-phyre-tests-if-machines-can-learn-physics/ Again, in 2021, I had gone down the rabbit hole of Computer vision's most influential and yet mysterious datasets called JFT-300M (https://youtu.be/TvVc1e_4648?si=oVC6Ji4OKNh-Rejz ). It turned out that Jack was investigating it as well and DM'ed me a bunch. I don't know I ever responded though 🥲 NGL, his story arc is one for the ages man.
