Making Money with Claude: The Idiot-Proof Guide Zero skills. Zero budget. Your first real dollars.

Every week someone posts "I made $10k with AI" and every week you open Claude, type "how do I make money" and get a polite essay that leads nowhere.

Here's what those posts skip: they already knew what to sell and who buys it. Claude didn't give them a business. It made their business faster.

This guide fixes that gap. No coding, no design skills, no audience needed. Just three paths that real people are using right now, in order from fastest cash to most passive, with every prompt you need.

One rule before we start: your first goal is $1, not $10k. The first sale is the hardest one. After that it's repetition.

Step 0. Set up (10 minutes, $0)

1. Go to claude.ai and create a free account. The free plan already includes web search, file uploads and file creation.

1. Upgrade to Pro only when you keep hitting the limits. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly.

1. Make one Google Doc called "Money Log". Every idea, price and result goes there. Future you will thank you.

Your first prompt:

i'm a complete beginner. no coding, no design skills, about 1 hour a day. ask me 7 questions about what i know, what i like and what i've done at work or in life. then suggest 3 ways i could earn my first $100 using claude, ranked by how fast i'd get paid

The 3 paths

If you need money soon, start with Path 1. If you have time and want something that sells while you sleep, start with Path 2 or 3. Pick one. Doing all three at once is how beginners do none.

Path 1. Sell a service where Claude does 80% of the work

The idea: businesses already pay people to write, research and organize. They don't care if you use AI. They care if the result is good and on time.

Beginner-friendly services:

- product descriptions for online shops

- rewriting resumes and LinkedIn profiles

- weekly social media posts for a local business

- blog articles for small company websites

- turning messy notes or recordings into clean documents

- email newsletters

Where to find your first clients:

- Fiverr: create a gig, buyers come to you. Fiverr keeps 20% of each order.

- Upwork: you apply to jobs that buyers post.

- Directly: message 20 local businesses whose Instagram or website clearly needs help. No platform fee at all.

How to do it without being an expert:

1. Pick one service. Not five.

1. Make 3 free samples with Claude so you have something to show.

1. Price low at first to get reviews, then raise prices every 3 to 5 orders.

1. Always read and fix what Claude writes before you send it. You are the quality check. That's what the client is paying you for.

Prompts:

i want to sell [service] on fiver as a beginner. write my gig: a clear title, a 150-word description in plain english, 3 packages (basic, standard, premium) with what's included and a fair beginner price for each

here's a local business: [name, what they do, link]. write a short, friendly message offering to write their [service]. mention one specific thing about their business. no hype, under 80 words

here's a client brief: [paste]. before you write anything, list what's unclear and ask me the questions i should ask the client

Path 2. Publish short books on Amazon KDP

The idea: Amazon is where people already go to buy books. You don't need a website, ads or followers. Sign-up and listing are free, and Amazon only takes a cut when you sell.

The 3 steps:

1. Find a topic people already buy.

1. Write a shorter, simpler book that solves one problem.

1. Publish it where buyers already are.

Step 1: find a topic that sells

Ask Claude for ideas, then check each one on Amazon. Open a book on the topic and scroll to "Best Sellers Rank" in product details. Lower is better. Free browser extensions turn that rank into estimated sales so you don't have to guess.

- Several books on the topic selling well → good topic.

- Nothing selling → nobody wants it. Move on.

Prompt:

give me 30 non-fiction book ideas that solve one specific everyday problem for a specific person. examples of the style: "decluttering for people with adhd", "first-time dog owner's first 30 days". no generic topics

Step 2: write a simpler book, not a worse one

People buy non-fiction to solve a problem, not to read 300 pages. A focused 10,000-word book (roughly 40 to 60 pages) is a fine first book.

Never ask Claude for the whole book at once. Long outputs get repetitive and shallow. Go piece by piece:

i'm writing a book about [topic]. the reader starts at point a: [their problem]. they finish at point b: [the result they want]. what are the 6 steps to get them from a to b? make each step a chapter with 3 to 4 subsections

give me 10 title and subtitle options. the main title must say clearly what the book is about. the subtitle sells the benefit

write chapter 1, section 1 only. plain english, short paragraphs, one practical example

Repeat section by section. Paste everything into a Google Doc and edit it: cut the fluff, add your own examples, fix anything that sounds robotic.

Easier version: low-content books like word searches, puzzle books or journals. Claude can generate puzzles and pages, and tools like Book Bolt help with layout.

Step 3: publish

- Cover: a clean Canva template beats a weird AI cover. A clear title matters more than art.

- Price and royalties: KDP pays 70% on ebooks in eligible markets and price ranges (the sweet spot is $2.99 to $9.99), otherwise 35%.

- AI rule: Amazon requires you to disclose AI-generated content when you publish. Content you wrote yourself and only edited with AI doesn't need disclosure. Be honest in the form.

- Reviews: don't ask friends or family for reviews. That's against Amazon's rules. Give free copies to strangers in Facebook groups about your topic and ask for an honest review.

- Free promotion: short TikTok and Instagram videos showing the book and one useful tip from it.

Path 3. Sell digital templates on Etsy

The idea: planners, checklists, trackers and guides that people download and edit in Canva. Claude builds the content, Canva makes it pretty and editable.

Validate before you build. A product is worth making only if:

- similar listings are making money right now (sales tools like EverBee show this)

- the listings are alive: recent reviews, "in carts", bestseller badges

- someone is paying to advertise something similar (check the free Meta Ad Library)

Competition is good news. Zero sellers usually means zero buyers.

Listen before you build:

here are reviews from the top 5 etsy listings for [product]. sort them into what buyers loved, what annoyed them and what they wish was included. then list the phrases buyers use most, word for word

Use their exact words in your title and description. People buy when they recognize their own sentence.

Build a bundle, not one file. A $39 kit that solves a whole problem beats a $5 single page competing on price.

Fees to know: Etsy charges $0.20 to list an item, plus a transaction fee and payment processing on each sale. Check Etsy's fee page before you price.

Don't copy competitors' designs. Use them as a quality bar, then make your own. Etsy removes copied listings.

Your first 30 days

- Week 1. Pick. Run the first prompt, choose one path, set up your account (Fiverr, KDP or Etsy).

- Week 2. Build. 3 samples (services), one short book (KDP) or one bundle (Etsy).

- Week 3. Launch. Publish the gig, book or listing. If you chose services, message 20 businesses.

- Week 4. Fix. Look at what got views, replies or clicks. Change one thing, try again.

The honest part

What realistic looks like:

- Services can pay in days, but you trade time for money.

- Books and templates take weeks to months before steady sales, then keep selling with little work.

- Most people who quit do it in week 2. Most people who earn are still going in month 3.

Red flags in "make money with AI" content:

- 🚩 big income screenshots, then a link to a paid course or "mentorship"

- 🚩 "AI does everything while you sleep"

- 🚩 the revenue shown is a competitor's listing, not the creator's own sales

- 🚩 review-swap or fake-review tricks: they get accounts banned

- 🚩 "copy this bestseller exactly"

None of this is a get-rich-quick scheme. It's a real skill, and Claude makes it about 10x faster to learn.

TL;DR

1. Free Claude account, one Money Log doc

1. Pick one path: services (fast), books (passive), templates (passive)

1. Validate demand before you build anything

1. Let Claude draft, you edit and check

1. Launch in 30 days, improve in month 2

1. Goal one: $1. Then repeat.

Save this. Then do Step 0 today.

This is part 1. Every day I’ll break down one new way to make money with Claude: what it is, what it costs, and the exact prompts to start.

Follow so you don’t miss tomorrow’s.
