WhatsApp help pages leaked hidden instructions for Meta's support chatbot

Privacy company Redact found about 80 WhatsApp help and FAQ pages exposing around 100 blocks of hidden text written for Meta's large language model. The instructions included telling the chatbot not to cite data protection regulators or give legal advice.

WhatsApp spokesperson Joshua Breckman said the text appeared due to a bug that has been fixed and was removed from all pages after Wired contacted Meta.
