Solo founder builds a custom TV launcher for Google TV Streamer with Claude Opus 5.5

A solo developer built a custom launcher for the Google TV Streamer using Claude Opus 5.5, with a minimal UI showing Continue Watching and Apps. It adds a time and date display, a quick audio output switcher for Bluetooth devices, and long-press actions to reorder, hide, uninstall, or force stop apps. The source is a GitHub-linked X post.

I built my own TV launcher for my Google TV Streamer with Claude Opus 5.5!

GitHub: https://github.com/teja2495/my-toolkit-tv

Wanted something simple, clean, and functional. Here's what I've built so far:

1. Minimal UI: Just Continue Watching and Apps. Also added a subtle glow behind the currently selected app, which looks pretty nice!

2. Time & Date: Right at the top. Might add weather here too.

3. Audio Output & Settings: I frequently switch between Bluetooth audio devices, so I wanted a quick way to change the audio output without digging through settings.

4. Continue Watching: This isn't actually real-time since apps don't expose that data. Think of it more like Favourites. I can pin shows with deep links, and clicking one opens the show directly in its respective app.

5. Long-press Actions: Long-press any app to reorder, hide (moves it to More Apps), uninstall, or force stop it. Force stop is surprisingly useful when an app gets stuck or when I want to refresh YouTube recommendations.

What do you think? Anything else worth adding?

Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon! It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix. Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher. Looks like an Apple TV now lol
