Anthropic's 2021 research roadmap predicted Claude Code, leaked in a copyright case

A 2021 internal Anthropic research roadmap, exposed in a copyright lawsuit, set out a goal of a general AI assistant that acts like a software engineering colleague. The roadmap reportedly also discussed tool use, self-judging models, trillion-parameter training, very large contexts, and test-time compute.
