OpenAI fires engineer arrested for allegedly planting recording device in office

OpenAI says it found a sophisticated recording device hidden in one of its offices and fired the employee it identified as having planted it.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was alerted, and the employee, 35-year-old Abdulrahman Alfozan, was charged with using or attempting to use a device to intercept oral communications.

OpenAI says it has no indications the individual accessed model weights, source code, or customer data.
