Joshua Achiam critiques Will Manidis's Commanding Heights for omitting transhumanism and rogue AI

AIJoshua Achiam, who skimmed the table of contents and searched keywords without finishing the piece, says Commanding Heights barely mentions transhumanism or rogue AI. He argues that omission misses the highest-order dynamics of how power concentrates and flows, and asks how far into the future the projection is expected to be roughly correct and actionable.

Since we're doing quick takes - Will, I haven't read this yet beyond skimming the table of contents and doing a few CTRL+f's for keywords. So my critique should be taken with a grain of salt and I'm not closed-minded about it. But my impression is that this didn't make much reference if any to transhumanism or rogue AI, and as a result I think it's missing the highest order bits about how power concentrates and flows in the future. Does this feel like a fair critique? How far in the future is this projection expected to be approximately right and actionable?
