China Meteorological Administration puts Fengqing AI ensemble forecast system into operation

The China Meteorological Administration has put the AI-based global ensemble forecast system CMA-AIM-GFS-Fengqing-ENS-V1.0 into national operational use after an operational review.

The system produces multiple forecast members to describe uncertainty, and the CMA cites an effective 500 hPa ensemble-mean range of 11.0 days from January 2025 to August 2026 verification.

The developers' comparisons with ECMWF's numerical and AIFS-CRPS ensembles are their own, and detailed scores have not been published.
