Yuchen Jin says new Databricks engineers get access to AI dev tools, ask AI questions on day one, and land impactful pull requests by day two. He contrasts this with the pre-AI onboarding, where engineers spent about two weeks with a buddy reading design docs and the codebase before landing a small patch in week three.
I love seeing strong engineers join Databricks, get access to all the AI dev tools, ask AI everything on day 1, and land impactful PRs on day 2.
Before AI: 2 weeks with an onboarding buddy, reading design docs and the codebase, just to land a tiny patch on week 3.
