Tesla's security protocols stopped DHS agents from installing a tracking device

Agents with Homeland Security Investigations sought a warrant on Halloween 2025 to track a suspected Milwaukee drug trafficker's white Tesla, according to a warrant reviewed by 404 Media.

The warrant was issued the same day but never executed, because the agent wrote that "security protocols active on Tesla" blocked installation. The court filing does not specify the protocols, though the Tesla may have been in Sentry Mode.
