Claude Code v2.1.302 adds auto mode model setting and fixes Vertex, Bedrock, and PowerShell bugs

Anthropic releases Claude Code v2.1.302 with a new CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL variable that selects the model for the client-side auto mode classifier. The release adds an idle compaction setting to /config, sets standalone Claude Design ( to close on December 14, 2026, and fixes numerous bugs, including Vertex and Bedrock request failures and PowerShell command lookup.
