ByteDance Seed creates standalone model alignment and preparedness department

ByteDance Seed announced in an internal email that it is forming a "Seed Model-Alignment&Preparedness" department led by Yan Lin, reporting to Seed head Wu Yonghui.

The former Responsible AI team and some Chat team members will move into the new department to strengthen safety and alignment work for agent models and CBRN risks.

Seed is the first Chinese frontier AI lab to set up a separate safety and alignment department, according to the report.
