Fully automated content with GrokBot: An unfortunate revelation.

3 weeks ago I started a project with GrokBot. Publicly announced CRE lease & sale transactions across the country, all compiled in an easy to use public database on http://DealRevue.com.

I built a content pipeline to promote it:

@bot analyzes that weeks transactions, and posts videos about the interesting ones to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, records and reviews the engagement data so it builds more engaging videos as time goes on.

Most of the videos fell flat, 30 views, 50, 100.

One day we cracked 1,000 views.

Then every day after we started getting posts with thousands of views, 2k views, 3k views, now we have one with almost 8k views.

I looked into it trying to figure out the upswing.

GrokBot had posted a video about a building in Portland Oregon that sold for a dramatic price decrease.

The video started getting comments from people in the community bickering about why the price went down, and what was wrong with the area/city/community.

GrokBot picked up on this and leaned in.

It’s now posting videos daily about transactions with giant price decreases in areas going thru some sort of local strife. They get more views, engagement and comments than anything else, 

GrokBot continues to lean in to sharing the bad news.

And that, friends, is how the media works.

I’m going to have it experiment with more formats that are still engaging, but less of a bummer.

But this is still a bummer.
