## Summary

Google DeepMind, Google Research, WRI and IIASA release Forest Typology (ForTy) 2020, a 10-meter global map classifying land into six forest and land-use types. The map is paired with an early time series tracking changes from 2017 to 2025, including where natural forests were replaced by plantations or farms. ForTy picked the right forest type 90% of the time in validation against more than 9,000 sites, according to the researchers.
