Google Gemini Adds Reusable Skills to Replace Gems Over Coming Months

Google is rolling out skills in Gemini chat globally, letting users save frequently used instructions and invoke them by typing a forward slash and the skill name.

Skills will replace Gems, which Google will remove starting in November for personal accounts, March 2027 for Workspace business, enterprise and nonprofit customers, and June 2027 for Workspace education customers.

Gems will be automatically migrated into skills.
