CC, our experimental AI agent built for families
Managing a household means juggling busy schedules, crowded inboxes, and endless to-do lists. It requires context switching, multitasking, and the most precious resource of all: time. Earlier this year, @GoogleLabs introduced Project CC, an experimental AI-powered productivity assistant built with the mission of giving you your time back.
Recently, we expanded CC into a group agent, specifically designed to help families streamline daily logistics. So… how does it all work?
Think of CC more as a digital collaborator, rather than a personal agent. Instead of sharing passwords across multiple platforms, CC has its own identity through a verified Google account and email address. This means the whole family can interact with CC naturally, using the tools they already use like @Gmail, Calendar, @GoogleDrive, and more. You can share specific documents, images, and even set up controls to auto-forward emails from select senders (like a child’s school or an airline) to CC — while the rest of your inbox stays private.
From there, CC connects the dots, providing a unified view of your household. For example, you can forward a photo of a sports practice schedule and CC will add it directly to the shared calendar. Trying to pick a restaurant for a family outing? CC can jump in to suggest ideas, narrow down the list, and even schedule the final pick, replying right in the thread if it needs your permission to act.
Behind the scenes, CC uses the latest Gemini models running securely on isolated cloud computers to handle these complex tasks. Whether it's pre-filling registration PDFs, checking @GoogleMaps for live drive times, or balancing the family's go-to grocery list with an individual's specific dietary needs, CC remembers the big picture while respecting personal preferences.
