OpenAI reopens Pro $200 plan with revised usage calculation

Tomorrow OpenAI reopens the Pro $200 subscription to new subscribers, but changes how usage is calculated. By their math, it nets out at half the dollar value in API spend compared with the old Pro $200 plan.

OpenAI says it will not reintroduce the 5-hour limit, so users can fully use weekly usage when they want. It also says that over time subscribers will get more work done per dollar, as models become more efficient and price reductions are passed down.

OpenAI notes that it recently introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price.
