## Summary

President Trump issued a proclamation saying the secretary of commerce found that robotics, industrial machinery and their components are imported in quantities that threaten U.S. national security. The proclamation directs the secretary and U.S. trade representative to negotiate with trading partners to adjust imports, with the next step described as six months of talks before any further trade measures. Industry observers say the finding does not mean immediate tariffs.
